(DIY) How to Hand Sew a Lace Wig( with pictures & videos) - Prorsol

1. PART 1 of 4


Preparing the Wig Making Tools


1. A mannequin head dummy  for wigs making can be likened to a dress makers dress form in purpose. It's an easy and fast essential tool in wig making and hair learning. It comes in a variety of sizes for a perfect fit of all head sizes.

Note: Before setting out to buy one take your accurate head measurements to enable you buy one specific for your head measurements. It's washable to keep it from dirt.






2. A Weaving screw clamp is attached to a mannequin head holding it to a table to stand on its own and rotate in any direction during the hand sewing  wig making process.









The weaving screw clamp is fixed directly into the hole beneath the mannequin head as shown in the picture above.




3. For a beginner mark the mannequin head in lines half inch apart with a Measuring tape as shown in the picture above.




4. Get your correct size of  Lace wig cap and stretch your lace cap onto the mannequin head. Adjust the elastic band to the front of the mannequin dummy face below the jaw and fasten it.


2. PART 2 of 4

Sewing The Artificial Hair




1.Begin to sew a row of artificial hair in blanket stitches either from the right or left beginning of the napeline in rows  across the lace wig cap to the end following the rules lines on the mannequin head. Cut off excess artificial hair with a sharp scissors.

2. Sew a second row of artificial hair from above the end of the first row of the napeline.Continue with this process for the next 10 rows following the drawn lines on the mannequin head for sew line guidance.


3. Sew 7 circular rows on the crown section. Start from the crown edge and sew inward to end at the center of the crown.


Note: The total length of a weave-on bundle is about 640cm/252 inches. In order to avoid weave-on shortage before completion of the Wig making project, don't see more than seven circular stitches on the crown section until the project is complete, then you can add excess weave-ons later on.


3. PART 3 of 4

Sewing the Final Part


1.Unfasten the elastic band, pull off the wig from the mannequin head dummy and cut off excess weave-on with a sharp scissors. Neatly secure the ending of the artificial hair through the center of the inner crown section of the wig lace cap.


2.Cut and knot the threads and cut off excess thread.

Apply Finishing Touches


1. Place completed wig on someone with similar facial features head and shape with a razor blade if it's human hair weave-on, or cut with scissors if it's synthethic hair weave-on.



2. Apply hair oil.Comb and brush using weave-on brush. Finally, style to complement your hair type and facial features.

What is Nitrosol Powder?- Prorsol

Nitrosol is a whitish or off-white powder with the texture of a powdered milk. It is excellent viscosifier. It is completely soluble in water and is mixed with 5mls per litre of distilled water. Once mixed with water it begins to decomposes when stored.  Nitrosol is used as a thickening agent in Liquid Soap making progress. It is stored in a dry place and tightly covered plastic container to avoid picking moisture from the air that makes it clump.

You will need: Industrial salt  Chlorine powder( sodium hypochlorite)  Soda ash-  Caustic soda PROCEDURE 1. Mix all the chemicals given above together starting with any one you want in 10 liters of water. 2. Stir very well and allow the mixture to stand for three days. 3.
